At the 91st french national championships in 2021 (19.12.2021) in Cesson-Sévigné Simon Gauzy proudly won his third national title in the final against Romain Ruiz. You can see in the pictures that the tournament was no walk in the park for the first placed. We talked to Simon after the medal ceremony.
"Simon, how are you feeling, what does this title mean to you?"
Simon. "The national championship title means a lot to me. Coming home as a professionel TT-Globetrotter is always very emotional for me. These tournaments connect me to my fanbase in my homeland. The nationals are also required from to be be able to play in the French national team, which will be a career highlight for me.
After 2013 and last years win this is my third title – thus it is a confirmation for my performance and my hard training. The pressure is always there if you start as number one and of course I don't want to disappoint my fans. I hope this will also be a milestone on the way to win a European title – we will see."
